Shape Magazine's 'How to Become a Morning Exerciser'

I know that personally I find I have a lot of energy after I work out, so I've been wanting to start working out in the morning rather than in the evening, but I am not much of a morning person, so getting out and about earlier than I have to is difficult.

Are you in a similar situation? Well Shape Magazine just posted this great photo blog on how to become a morning exerciser this fall that's a must read!

Their tips include things like making your bedtime a little earlier every night, making a killer workout soundtrack and beginning playing it the moment you way up in the morning, setting realistic goals and workouts, and planning for failure, along with some other great ideas.

The Proof is in the Pictures!


So the before shot was taking in dressing room at Target on June 20th. And the other one was taken last night, Sept. 21st. almost exactly 3 months later and 25lbs lighter!!! It's hard to tell exactly how much of a difference it is because of the weird angle, but it's hard to take a pic of yourself without a full length mirror, and Bella and I broke mine a few weeks ago on accident, oops!

I have a ways to go, but I'm happy to be getting there!!!  Looking at these side by side though, gives me a great deal of motivation to keep up what I'm doing!!!

Kick Ass Workouts & My Progress

Holy-moly.... I've not been writing on this blog nearly enough, and I'm sorry for that... But, on the bright side, I HAVE been making good, healthy choices, despite the delicious chocolaty delicacies I see all over pinterest, that I not only want to eat but wouldn't mind rolling around in lol.

Anyway, my eating habits, since I'm nearly always at home, are really consistent and I have quit using an app to track my calories because I was always under my goal by quite a bit.  I am now down 25lbs, and it is finally noticeable to me in the mirror!  I look at myself in the mirror every day with a proud sense of accomplishment and think "Damn... not too bad Megan, not too bad!" Which is a huge improvement over "Oh my God... how did I get this freaking fat??? Avert your eyes, avert your eyes!!" LMAO!

But on a serious note, I hope that everyone else out there traveling down this bumpy road with me is having some success too! I'd love to hear from you, if you are or if you need some encouragement... we've all been there!

I want to share with you one of my new favorite things, BodyRock.Tv! If you follow me on Pinterest you've probably seen me pin this video before, but I want to share it again because it really is a GREAT and quick Butt, Leg, & Inner/ Outer Thigh workout! And really who couldn't use a good, quick BLT workout?!?!

A great place to start to get your sexy on is with their 30 Day Challenge! If that's beyond your fitness level they have "true beginners" workouts too, which is nice! 

I'm not gonna lie, and it may just be me, but their videos kinda remind me of amateur porn or something with the way they are shot (yes, I just said that LOL) but the workouts are killer and if I can get to looking half as good as those ladies... I'm game ;)

This is a great little article on some of the little lies we tell ourselves, or others, that may be biting us in the ass when it comes to losing weight and getting fit! Overeating, not exercising as much as we say or think we do, partying too much, and common excuses are all covered in this article.

I've found the best way to overcome a majority of these things is by tracking your calories and fitness. I like the MyFittnessPal app, but there are tons of other apps and devices that can be used for the same thing.

A fitbit ($99.95), for example, is a high-tech pedometer that helps you track both your sleep, and your calories burned everyday.  It can be used in conjunction with an app that can track caloric intake as well! They are pretty cool, just wish they had one for swimmers/ water activities :(

Hope you all are having great success on your path 2 healthy! I have lost another 2lbs since last update, so I'm down 17lbs! The protein shake replacements have really been helping a lot, so if you have yet to add those into your routine, I HIGHLY suggest it! They taste amazing, are filling, and give you serious results! Even the generic store brand taste great and is the same basic thing, just cheaper!

Fit Cookies: Chewy Granola Cookies

Check out this link to some great looking Chewy Granola Cookies I found on Bear Naked's Facebook Page!
Not sure what the nutritional value of these would be even if you use Bear Naked Granola and light brown sugar... But they look good!  Could always make some, eat one, save a few for later in the week, and feed the rest to the kids lol!

Quick & Light Lemon Garlic-Herb Salmon

<5 min Prep Time 13-15 min Cook Time


Ingredients

2 salmon fillets
1 tbs butter or butter substitute, softened
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tea lemon herb seasoning
1 lemon
pinch of salt and pepper (optional)


Directions

Place the salmon fillets on a broiler pan, skin side down as shown to the left.

Cut two thin slices from the center of the lemon. Cut them in half, set aside for later. 

Mix softened butter, minced garlic, lemon herb, salt and pepper, and juice from the rest of the lemon, together in a small bowl.

Drizzle lemon garlic-herb butter on salmon fillets, then place them in the oven set on broiler for 13 - 15 minutes.

Garnish fillets with lemon slices and viola...
 


While I prepared , cooked, and took pics of the salmon, my daughter made her specialty... Silly Fruit Salad!  She was making it to take to school for lunch, but made extra for dinner too!

Who says playing with your food is bad???

I say as long as it keeps them interested in eating wholesome, healthy foods like this... it's ALL good!
